WW1 ( world war 1)

For all history haters, listen up!!

Please go back in memory to the fifth grade, precisely when your teacher was giving a long speech about WW1 while you were dying of boredom wishing for him to finish soon …remember? … Well, don’t worry It’s not gonna be the same in here!

WW1 will make you believe that luck is just a short-term companion; it all exploded in 1914, when an ostrich archduke called Francis Ferdinand decided to visit Serbia (Sarajevo) to smoother the relations between the two countries (we’ll know why later). As he gets through the crowd with his wife in an exposed car, a bomb was thrown towards them, and guess what it missed them and caused a few injuries for some people there. Now, a normal man would have gone running to his country after this horrible incident but no he wanted to check on the victims and show his good intentions. Unfortunately, the driver took a wrong turn (not the movie) that led them to the place where the assassins were resting. As soon as Gavrilo princip (an nationalist assassin) saw him, he pulled his gun out and shot them to death.

Simple minds would say that this incident was the main reason of WW1; instead, it was the cherry on the cake. The war drums were playing years ago.

When the Ottoman Empire (including Balkans = Bulgaria + Greece + Montenegro + Serbia) was trembling, Austria took the chance to join Bosnia to her territory, with that she ruined the Serbian nationalists’ dream of combining all the Slavic race countries together….feeling lost ha!

Well, consider this case as a separated family (slaves including Serbia) that dreams of getting together again but it all became impossible as the bad people (Austria) kidnapped their little daughter (Bosnia-Herzegovina).

So, it is now Serbia vs Austria….yet, since it’s personal what made other countries interfere and make it global? ….. Woo, I thought you would never ask!

In fact, France and Germany were historically opponents fighting over markets means of production power colonies…. In 1871, France was defeated and extremely humiliated after being on top of the world, Germany (the winner partie) on the other hand was rising in a constant scale economically and technologically especially after moving diplomatically closer to Austria-Hungary and Russia.

In other words, France was motivated by revenge and Germany by the obligation of alliance. what about Russia and Britain?

Simply, Russia was Serbia’s alley and she was afraid of the development of Germany’s industry and army so, she had extensional reasons just like Britain.

these reasons can be resumed into these major points:

What I need you to know is that the world was divided into 2 opponents.

1/ Central powers 2/triple entente

(Germany, Austria-hangiri and Othman empire) (France, United Kingdom and Russia)

Let The war begin!!

German troops crossed the border into Belgium; they penetrated deeply france and caused a lot of damages. On the other hand, in the east, Russia attacked Germany and Austria (who attacked Serbia) the war didn’t stop although neither side had succeeded or failed

In 1917, the USA decided to enter the war against Germany after the attacks upon its ships in the Atlantic and the exit of Russia (because of the Bolshevik revolution)

In 1918, Germans lost numerous battles and it’s troops began to fall back as both sides were very exhausted however it ended with the loss of Germany and Austria-Hungary.

Central powers signed armistice agreement. In fact, Austria-Hungary was detached into smaller countries and Germany was penalized with heavy “economic reparations, territorial losses and strict limits on its rights to develop military" (related to WW2)

The war ended after 4 years of killing, everybody was raged about aromatizing their soldiers, every country ruler wanted to be alone on top, it didn’t matter stepping on the innocents' heads to get there, what mattered to them is the power that comes with it.
